CTO and engineer Linus Peters of CTP Engine Liners said in an interview with CNBC that the engine linership market is a very big opportunity for CTP, as its products have been in production for over 10 years.
“We’re looking to increase the volume of engines,” he said.
The company has a presence in more than 20 countries worldwide and has over 100 employees in Germany, Australia, India and the US.
Peters said that the company is looking to scale its manufacturing capacity to the point that it can manufacture engines on a daily basis.
CTP engine linerers are skilled in the design and assembly of engine parts and typically have experience with high-volume production.
“They’re able to manufacture parts of the engine that are typically the largest component part, which includes the cylinder head and other components, like the exhaust manifold, the cooling system, the transmission, the air-conditioning,” he explained.
“And that allows us to build the entire engine with the smallest parts possible, which is something that’s really useful to us.
The engine itself is a fairly compact cylinder head, and that means that it’s possible to build an engine that can fit in a vehicle’s body.”
CTP’s engines are built on an assembly line, which uses a custom-built engine block, which typically contains about 400 parts.
“Our engine parts are a very simple assembly of parts,” Peters said.
“Each part is designed to work with each other.
You get the engine assembly out of the block and put it into a cylinder head that’s been custom built to fit the car.
The next step is to cut the cylinder out and put the engine parts in, and then assemble it all together.
And that’s the whole assembly.
It’s essentially a very easy assembly.”
CTS engines are often used in electric vehicles, including Tesla’s Model S and Model X. The CTS Engine Liner line has been used to produce high-performance vehicles for several years, including the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, BMW i3 and Audi Q5, as well as the Porsche Boxster, Audi A4 and Volkswagen Golf.
CTS also makes a line of premium engines, which are designed to run on gasoline, diesel or electric motors.
“These engines are designed with a unique design, and they’re a lot of fun to build,” Peters told CNBC.
“It’s really exciting to see what kind of success we can achieve with them.”
The CTP CTP Engineering team has been in business for nearly 10 years, and Peters said he has not changed much from the way he has designed and built the CTS engine.
“The biggest difference is that we’re building the engine ourselves,” he added.
“All of our parts are designed by the CTP engineers.”
CTA engine linhers are used for engine and transmission design, which Peters said are also “a lot of different areas that we look at.”
The company is also looking to expand its production capacity, with a plan to add 100-200 engines in 2017.
“There’s a lot going on in our engine business right now,” Peters explained.
For example, he said that CTP is looking at manufacturing and selling engines to a global market, including China and other Asian markets.
“Right now, we’re focusing on China,” he continued.
“But in the future, we could expand our production capacity globally.”
The growth in demand for CTS products has also led to increased interest in CTP engines, according to Peters.
“A lot of people are looking for these engines,” Peters noted.
“As a CTP customer, we want to be able to get these engines to customers as quickly as possible.”
For example: “We were able to put the CPT Engine Linerer in the Porsche Cayenne as soon as we received it, and we’ve been seeing a lot more interest from customers in these engines.
We’re getting inquiries from customers as soon the CTA Engine Linerers are shipping out.”
CPT also has a factory in China and a factory at its production facility in Germany.
“In Germany, we’ve seen an increase in interest in our engines, and this is something we’re excited about,” Peters added.
CTA is also growing its manufacturing facility in Taiwan.
“One of our customers is now in Taiwan, and there’s an interest in having an engine manufacturing facility there,” Peters stated.
“So we’re very excited to be opening that up, and to be building engines in Taiwan.”
CTF engine linters are used to fabricate engines for a variety of automotive applications, including motorcycles, pickup trucks, and trucks for heavy duty vehicles.
“For the past decade, we have focused on the engine and transmissions side of things,” Peters emphasized.
